Fos Ashkir walks her talk. As a mother of two young leaders, Fos has been a relentless advocate and community leader in Toronto Centre — Rosedale by making our schools better for parents, students and staff.
For over 14 years, Fos has been on TDSB school councils, running workshops for parents and — with the help of community members — worked to brings families, trustees and the school administration together to tackle issues. She continues to strive for an education system that families deserve. She currently serves as the Chair and President of the Jarvis Collegiate Institute Public School Parent Council and Chair of the Lord Dufferin Daycare Board.
Her passion to support diverse communities led her to work in politics, tirelessly serving constituents in Toronto Centre as she oversaw casework for families, organizations and key community groups for the Hon. Bill Morneau. Engaging and working alongside residents for over a decade, Fos knows first hand the desire to create and maintain inclusive, safe and sustainable schools for those in our community. By running for school board trustee, Fos is committed to being an ongoing education advocate that keeps the values and concerns of students and families at the forefront.
Fos is a dedicated volunteer and has served as a board member of the Regent Park Community Health Centre and a program committee member of Artscape. She is a frequent volunteer with the Regent Park Lunch Service, which has helped to serve over 40,000 meals to those in need.
